Welcome to the website of Saint Mary’s Parish Church. There has been a Church on this site for over one hundred years. The current building dates from 1910. It was established by the clergy and people of the Church of England but belonging specifically to the Oxford Movement. This Movement aimed to restore more fully to the Church of England that which had been lost at the Reformation: catholic understanding, spirituality and a re-assertion of the uniqueness of the Church’s supernatural calling. Priests and religious sisters from within this Oxford Movement went to areas where there was great social and spiritual need. They brought with them the message of Christ’s Gospel and tried to show through example how it could be lived out.

We here at Saint Mary’s we aim to carry on this witness in South Elmsall and Moorthorpe, along with our ecumenical partners, to the glory of God and for the betterment of the local community.
